Minesweeper Tips & Strategy
Minesweeper is a game of logic, not luck. These tips will help you make safer moves, read the board faster, and push your Gold Mine high score higher.
Open the Middle First
Your first dig is safest near the center of the board. Opening a central tile is more likely to trigger a large chain reveal, giving you numbers to work with right away instead of guessing blindly at the edges.
Learn the Number Patterns
Most of minesweeper is pattern recognition. A "1" touching a single covered tile means that tile is a mine. A "1-2-1" along a wall almost always marks a specific mine layout you can solve instantly.
The more patterns you memorize, the fewer guesses you take — and fewer guesses means fewer game-overs.
Flag to Think, Not Just to Mark
Use flags as a thinking tool. Flagging known mines clears visual clutter and makes the surrounding numbers easier to solve. When a number already touches its full count of flags, every other neighboring tile is guaranteed safe to open.
Grab Gold Safely and Plan for Quakes
Gold is worth points, but never open a gold tile you have not proven safe — the run is not worth one risky dig. Clear the area around it first with the numbers.
On quake stages, avoid leaving too many uncertain tiles at once. Solve confidently, because after a quake the mines move and your half-finished deductions may no longer hold.
